THREE MILES

Posted by oddlyoptimistic under: Uncategorized.

woo hoo.
I did it. I wanted to die towards the end but I did it. I’m starting to realize that it is all about how you begin. Seriously, if you get the breathing correctly at the beginning while you are running mile one, it just gets a lot lot lot easier.
Running anything past mile two was hard but I told myself that if I could run three miles, I could finish the horrible legal writing paper I have to do this week. And do it well. So there you go. That was my motivation this time.
I also don’t think I can just run three miles, three miles, three miles, three times a week. I think I have to run a mile, three miles, a mile or something.
I wanted to get up to four miles before I move back home for the summer. Not sure if I can attain that. I might be able to get to 3.5 miles which would be impressive too.
Ideally, by the end of the summer, I would like to be able to run six to seven miles straight. I think that will be my goal. Wouldn’t that be something?
I think for sure I want to run a 5k pretty soon and then a 10k by the end of the summer. 10k = 6.2 miles so maybe pushing it to 7 will be good stuff.

Three miles. I know it may not seem like that much to most runners and all but hey, it was a pretty big thing for me!

high five from me! three miles is about 2 more miles than I can run w/o stopping to walk. ; ^ ) so, congratulations from someone who thinks that 3 miles is a great accomplishment!

ok, the shoes also squeezed the life out of my foot while running. i think perhaps my feet swell significantly when i run. anyways, i returned the shoes because i researched online about running shoes and apparently you are not supposed to have to “break them in” if you have the correct fit. i will try again soon. for now, i will continue to use my dearly beloved old shoes.

Wonderful!

You’re starting out on your journey. You’ll be amazed in a few months when you realize that you think that a three mile run is a warmup.

ugh, tash, today running was the worst. my stomach started doing the cramp thing while i was running (at 6:30 am because i couldn’t sleep) then i had to spend the rest of the day in bed crying because it hurts so bad. ughhh this could seriously impede my marathon chances. my dad suggested something new to take, so hopefully that will help, but he said i might have to get on some sort of prescription medication. i know i know you think i’m overly medicated, but i have been doing everything that i’m supposed to do- eating enough fiber (all wheat bread, wheat pasta, oatmeal), taking fiber, exercising, and it’s just not getting better.
anyways, so 12 hours after i finished my run, i am still lying in bed. i might have to take it easy for a couple of days, which i’m all angry about because i really wanted to take advantage of dead days to do some extra running.

ok, so i conquered the pain! today was so much better. i’m gonna have a doc check me out when i go home though to make sure i’m totally in okay shape and talk more about the cramping issue so that i don’t have to deal with it any more. ok, i looked at all of the dates, but every saturday morning i have lsat prep classes until june 7, so i will probably have to wait until after then. i’m sorry! the lsat is really screwing up all of our plans for the summer.
