help advice
Posted by oddlyoptimistic under: Uncategorized.
so, i went in and did some yoga this morning.
i have not reacted well to that last run. it was pretty awesome mentally, but physically my body did not respond well. i started with a cough, that lead to a cold and sore throat. it got really bad, so finally i went to the health center at my school yesterday. the doctor gave me an antibiotic and an inhaler.
i didn’t go on the long run this weekend. it was just 12 miles, but i was feeling pretty miserable. i ran during the week - one mile - ahaha but it got me even more sick. the doctor said i should feel good in about 3-4 days. has this happened to anyone? how do you recover from it? i’ve been trying to get more sleep and rest, and am eating well and drinking lots of fluids. any suggestions though? will this mess me up for the marathon on the 22nd? am i going to loose all the training? i doubt that, but i was just wondering what people thought.
Oh, and by the way, thank you so much for all the encouraging comments left at my last entry. I was really touched. Thank you.

Brad Hefta-Gaub Says:
It sounds like you need rest. If the doctor gave you antibiotics then they must feel like you have an infection of some sort… the key to recovery is rest, and fluids… so take a couple days off… it’s way better to shut down for a week or so and bounce back quickly, then to push yourself while you should be resting. That could drag your illness out for weeks or months…
Get better soon!
